Original Stylus Staff Bio
Kareem Estefan was born in 1986. He currently lives in Narberth, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia), and attends Harriton High School. Most of his time is spent with the strangest assembly of people you are likely to meet (they call themselves “The Goon Squad” after Elvis Costello’s song off of Armed Forces and fashion themselves as a 20-person ensemble along the lines of Public Enemy in size, importance, and self-conscious controversy). Through members of the Goon Squad and his own obsessive qualities, Kareem has developed a love for music that is rarely paralleled, spending whatever money he accumulates at the local record store, and listening to a CD collection that grows at an ever-increasing rate. Kareem plays the guitar, and hopes desperately to one day become a successful songwriter. His idols include, but are by no means limited to, the undyingly altruistic C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon’s character from The Apartment), the marvelously prolific Stephin Merritt of The Magnetic Fields (among other bands), and, most importantly, the utterly beautiful Nick Drake, whom he has emulated with every action he has ever taken.
